Columbus Blue Jackets defenseman Grant Clitsome signed a new one-year contract Thursday, the terms of which were not disclosed.

Clitsome, the 271st pick in the 2004 Entry Draft, made his NHL debut last season by playing in 11 games, recording 1 goal, 3 points and 6 penalty minutes.

In 64 games for the Syracuse Crunch of the AHL, Clitsome recorded 5 goals, 20 points and 42 penalty minutes. He has totals of 9 goals, 39 points and 105 penalty minutes in 137 career games for Syracuse.

For me, it's a great win for our hockey team and for a lot of people back in Columbus, especially our fans in particular … people who have been devoted to this organization, it's big.
