Flames re-sign Brett Sutter

The Calgary Flames announced Tuesday they have re-signed forward Brett Sutter to a one-year contract.

Sutter, son of Flames GM Darryl Sutter, played 10 NHL games for Calgary in 2009-10 without scoring a point. He had 9 goals, 24 points and 69 penalty minutes in 66 games with Abbotsford, Calgary's AHL affiliate, then led the Heat in playoff scoring with 11 points (4 goals, 7 assists) in 13 games.

Sutter, chosen in the sixth round (No. 179) in the 2005 Entry Draft, scored his only NHL goal during a four-game call-up with the Flames during the 2008-09 season.

He is the eighth member of his family to play in the NHL, a group that includes his father, five uncles and a cousin, Brandon Sutter of the Carolina Hurricanes.
Quote of the Day

It was a different game in the past, that's for sure. It's not exactly what I was expecting but I think the experience paid off for a lot of our guys that realized what it takes in a Game 7. Realistically the effort we put forward, we might not even had to put 60 [minutes], but we just couldn't get a couple bounces to go our way and we just kept pushing.
