The Edmonton Oilers signed a pair of former first-round picks late Tuesday, agreeing to new deals with restricted free-agent goaltender Devan Dubnyk and defenseman Shawn Belle.
Dubnyk, who the Oilers made the 14th pick of the 2004 Entry Draft, made his NHL debut last season, going 4-10-2 with a 3.57 goals-against average and .889 save percentage in 19 games. He split time with Jeff Deslauriers, but started the Oilers' last two regular-season games, stopping a combined 57 of 61 shots.
Belle, a 2003 first-round pick of the St. Louis Blues, had 19 points in 70 games with the Hamilton Bulldogs, the Montreal Canadiens top minor-league affiliate. In 11 NHL games with Minnesota and Montreal, the 25-year-old Edmonton native has 1 assist.
