Blues defenseman Sydor retires

ST. LOUIS (AP) -St. Louis Blues defenseman Darryl Sydor has retired after an 18-year career.

The 38-year-old Sydor played for six NHL teams, including the Dallas Stars where he totaled 334 points and 401 penalty minutes in 714 games. He earned back-to-back All-Star selections in 1998 and 1999, and was on Stanley Cup champions with the Stars in 1999 and 2004 with the Lightning.

In 1,291 games, Sydor totaled 507 points, 755 penalty minutes and a plus-21 rating. He finished with the Blues last season, with eight assists and 15 penalty minutes in 47 games.
