Thrashers sign UFA's Ross and Sifers
The Atlanta Thrashers have signed unrestricted free agent forward Jared Ross and unrestricted free agent defenseman Jaime Sifers, according to General Manager Rick Dudley.

Ross, 27, recorded 46 points (12 goals, 34 assists) in 73 games last season with the Adirondack Phantoms of the American Hockey League.  He led the team in assists and tied for second in points.  Ross also appeared in three NHL regular-season contests with Philadelphia, as well as three Stanley Cup Playoff games with the Flyers.

The 5-9, 170-pound center has earned 243 points (85 goals, 158 assists) in 328 career AHL games with Adirondack, Philadelphia and Chicago.  He has also appeared in 13 NHL games with Philadelphia, tallied five points (three goals, two assists) in 22 ECHL games with Reading and Gwinnett and appeared in 12 games with Motor City of the now-defunct United Hockey League, tallying eight points (three goals, five assists). 

The Huntsville, Ala., native has scored one goal in nine career Stanley Cup Playoff contests with the Flyers and tallied nine points (five goals, four assists) in 12 Calder Cup Playoff games with Philadelphia, along with six points (three goals, three assists) in 13 ECHL playoff games Reading and Elmira.

Prior to his professional career, Ross played four seasons at the University of Alabama-Huntsville from 2001 to 2005, earning 158 points (72 goals, 86 assists) in 133 games.

Sifers, 27, recorded eight points (three goals, five assists) in 54 AHL games last season with the Houston Aeros and appeared in 14 NHL games with the Minnesota Wild

The 5-11, 210-pound defenseman has recorded two assists in 37 career NHL games with Minnesota and Toronto and has posted 66 points (17 goals, 49 assists) in 259 career AHL games with Houston and Toronto.  The Stratford, Conn., native has added six points (two goals, four assists) in 23 career Calder Cup Playoff games with the Marlies.

Prior to his professional career, Sifers appeared in 105 games with the University of Vermont from 2002 to 2006, posting 52 points (12 goals, 40 assists).
