Oilers sign Giroux
The Edmonton Oilers signed free agent left-winger Alexandre Giroux to a one-year contract Saturday.
The Edmonton Oilers signed free agent left-winger Alexandre Giroux to a one-year contract Saturday.

Giroux, 29, spent most of the season last year with the AHL's Hershey Bears, collecting 103 points (50G, 50A) in 69 games. He also suited up for nine games with the Washington Capitals scoring once and adding two assists.

The 6-foot-3, 190 lbs left-winger was originally drafted in the 7th round, 213th overall by the Ottawa Senators in the 1999 Entry Draft. He played in his first NHL game as a New York Ranger in 2005-06 before signing with Washington.
