Calgary General Manager Darryl Sutter announced Tuesday that the Flames have signed 26-year-old goaltender Henrik Karlsson to a one-year contract.
Karlsson, a native of Sweden, has spent the last six seasons playing in the Swedish Elite League, the past two seasons with Sodertajlje and Farjestad respectively. He played in 34 games in Sweden this past season, compiling a 2.45 GAA and a .914 save percentage with Farjestad.
San Jose signed Karlsson as a free agent last September. The Flames acquired the 6-foot-5, 200-pounder in a deal on Saturday that sent a sixth-round pick to the Sharks.
