Blues name Corey Hirsch goaltending coach
The St. Louis Blues on Friday named former NHL goaltender Corey Hirsch as their new goaltending coach. Hirsch, currently with the Toronto Maple Leafs, will officially join the Blues on July 1. He will work with the goalies in St. Louis, as well as the team’s AHL farm club in Peoria and the Blues’ goaltending prospects.

"Corey has tremendous knowledge and experience of the goaltending position," team president John Davidson said. "He has a lot to bring to the organization and all of our goaltenders will benefit having Corey on board."

Hirsch, 37, played for four NHL teams – the New York Rangers, Vancouver, Washington and Dallas --  and was named to the NHL All-Rookie Team in 1996 with Vancouver. After retiring, he was named as the goaltending consultant for Hockey Canada and was part of the National Junior Team that won the gold medal at the World Championships in 2007 and 2008. He was hired by the Leafs prior to the 2008-09 season.
