Tri-City Americans goalie Drew Owsley named WHL player of the week

CALGARY - Tri-City Americans goaltender Drew Owsley was named Western Hockey League player of the week Monday.

He posted a 3-0-1 record last week to help the Americans to a six-game victory over the Vancouver Giants in the WHL Western Conference final.

Owsley, who recorded a 1.97 goals-against average and .939 save percentage last week, was also nominated for the Canadian Hockey League goaltender of the week award.

Tri-City will face the Calgary Hitmen for the WHL championship. The best-of-seven series begins Friday in Calgary.
