Two of the top teams in the Western Conference will battle it out as part of the NHL's nine-game schedule on Tuesday night.

The Phoenix Coyotes, who trail the San Jose Sharks by four points for the lead in both the Pacific Division and the conference, will face the Vancouver Canucks at GM Place at 10 p.m. ET. Vancouver (45-26-4) has built a five-point lead in the Northwest Division.

Tuesday's action gets under way with five games at 7 p.m. ET: Atlanta at Toronto; Boston at New Jersey; New York Rangers at New York Islanders; Ottawa at Washington (RDS in Canada) and Tampa Bay at Columbus. The Thrashers trail the Bruins by two points for the eighth and final Eastern Conference playoff berth.

The Detroit Red Wings aim for their sixth straight win at 7:30 p.m. ET when they'll face the Edmonton Oilers at Joe Louis Arena. The Wings are just three points out of the No. 5 seed in the West.

A pair of games begins at 8 p.m. ET. In a game that can be seen on Versus in the U.S. and TSN in Canada, the Chicago Blackhawks battle the St. Louis Blues at the Scottrade Center. Chicago is five points behind San Jose in the West.

Also, the Los Angeles Kings -- who are 0-3-1 in their last four games -- look to back on track against the Nashville Predators at Bridgestone Arena. Jonathan Bernier is expected to start in goal for L.A.
