Coyotes clinch first playoff berth since 2002
The Phoenix Coyotes have clinched their first Stanley Cup Playoff berth since 2002.
The Phoenix Coyotes didn't even have to wait for their much-anticipated home game Saturday night against the Colorado Avalanche to clinch their first Stanley Cup Playoff berth since 2002.

It happened Saturday afternoon as a result of the Calgary Flames' 5-0 loss to the Boston Bruins.

The Coyotes (46-23-6, 98 points) have already set Coyotes/Winnipeg Jets franchise records for most wins and points in a single season and entered play on Saturday in fourth place in the Western Conference standings.  The Coyotes will host the Colorado Avalanche in front of a sellout crowd at Jobing.com Arena on Saturday night.
