Pens-Caps highlights Wednesday schedule
It's time for Round 3.

One of the best rivalries in the NHL resumes as part of Wednesday night's six-game schedule when Sidney Crosby and the Pittsburgh Penguins head to Washington to face Alex Ovechkin and the Washington Capitals at the Verizon Center.

Opening faceoff is set for 7 p.m. ET and can be seen in the U.S. on the NHL Network. The Caps (48-14-10) have won the first two games against Pittsburgh (42-25-6) this season, and the Penguins are coming off a 3-1 loss at Detroit on Monday.

Another big rivalry also resumes at 7 p.m., as the New York Islanders cross the East River to face the New York Rangers at Madison Square Garden. The Rangers sit in 10th place in the Eastern Conference and are just three points ahead of the Isles.

Two more games begin at 7:30 p.m. ET. In a game that can be seen on TSN and RDS in Canada, the Montreal Canadiens head to Buffalo to take on the Sabres at HSBC Arena. Meanwhile, the surging Detroit Red Wings -- 5-0-1 in their last six games -- host the St. Louis Blues at Joe Louis Arena.

The Los Angeles Kings, who won in dramatic fashion thanks to Drew Doughty's overtime goal on Monday night against Colorado, return to the ice at 9 p.m. ET to conclude their home-and-home series with the Avs at the Pepsi Center. The No. 7 Avalanche are just two points ahead of Detroit.

In the final game of the night, the Anaheim Ducks face the Vancouver Canucks at GM Place at 10 p.m. ET. The game can be seen on TSN in Canada. Both teams lost on Tuesday -- Vancouver was beaten 3-2 at Edmonton, while Anaheim lost 3-1 at Calgary.
