BARRIE, Ont. - Alexander Burmistrov scored twice and added two assists as the Barrie Colts throttled the Sudbury Wolves 11-4 Thursday in their first-round OHL playoff opener.

The Colts were nearly unbeatable at home during the regular season, going 30-2-2, and extended that dominance into their first post-season game.

Burmistrov, who is eligible for the 2010 NHL entry draft, scored less than five minutes apart in the first period to give the Colts a 2-1 lead. Zac Rinaldo made it 3-1 just 41 seconds later, and Matt Kennedy extended the lead 1:10 after that.

The Colts scored the first four goals of the second period, chasing Sudbury starting goaltender Andrew Loverock. Backup Alain Valiquette didn't fare much better, surrendering six goals over the final 35 minutes.

Game 2 in the best-of-seven series goes Saturday night in Sudbury.

Kennedy, Alex Hutchings and Dalton Prout each had a goal and two assists in the rout, while Luke Pither, Bryan Cameron, Kyle Clifford and Taylor Carnevale added a goal and an assist apiece. Stefan Della Rovere added a single, while St. Louis Blues prospect Alex Pietrangelo chipped in three assists.

John McFarland scored twice to pace the Wolves, while Marcus Foligno had a goal and an assist and Kain Allicock added a single. Matias Sointu had three assists.

Peter Di Salvo made 26 saves for Barrie, while Loverock and Valiquette combined to stop 36 shots for Sudbury.
