The Dallas Stars winger showed his value to Team Canada on Friday night, scoring the team's second goal in an eventual 3-2 win against Slovakia the Olympic tournament semifinal. Morrow was also on the ice for the winning goal, by linemate Ryan Getzlaf on a second-period power play.
Morrow now has goals in back-to-back games as he and his teammates prepare to play Team USA in Sunday's gold-medal game here at Canada Hockey Place. On Friday night, he played 11:39, managing the goal, two shots and an even rating.
Afterward, Morrow took a few minutes to exclusively discuss Team Canada's victory.
NHL.com -- What were you thinking during those last few minutes as Slovakia tried to come all the way back?Morrow -- They threw everything at the net. They worked the puck down low and it got a little hairy there at the end. We would have liked to protect the puck a little bit better. But, it was do-or-die for them and you have to give them some credit because they had a lot of battle in them.
NHL.com -- Your line has been good for the past two games. What makes it work so well between you and Ryan Getzlaf and Corey Perry?
Morrow -- I think that (our) line complements each other pretty well, grinding pucks low, cycles, strong on pucks. As long as we are not making those hope-for passes and are winning our one-on-ones, we are a pretty capable line.
NHL.com -- Was it difficult early in this tournament when you couldn't find your role on this team?
Morrow -- I knew what my role was. There maybe wasn't as many minutes involved with it. I knew it wasn't come here and put point on the board -- every one of those is a bonus. My role was to go out, create momentum, finish every check and give the team some energy.
