Barrie Colts top London Knights 5-3, become first OHL team to 100 points

Alex Hutchings sent the Barrie Colts soaring past the 100-point mark on Thursday night.

Hutchings broke a 3-3 tie with a short-handed goal in the third period as the Colts topped the London Knights 5-3 in Ontario Hockey League action.

Bryan Cameron scored twice for Barrie (49-8-2), and Alex Pietrangelo and Kyle Clifford also had goals for the Colts, who became the first OHL team to crack 100 points this season.

Nick Crawford and Luke Pither each added two assists.

Elsewhere in the OHL it was: Niagara 5 Peterborough 1; Brampton 6 Sudbury 0; Windsor 6 Plymouth 3; and Kitchener 7 Sarnia 3.

At Barrie, Ont., Steven Tarasuk, Chris DeSousa and Michael MacDonald scored for London (43-15-2). Colin Martin chipped in with two assists.

Peter Di Salvo made 34 saves for the Colts, while Michael Hutchinson stopped 33 shots in defeat.

IceDogs 5 Petes 1

At Peterborough, Ont., Maroc Insam scored twice for Niagara and Mark Visentin made 28 saves as the IceDogs topped the Petes.

Freddie Hamilton, Reggie Traccitto and Andrew Agozzino, into an empty net, also scored for Niagara (22-31-7).

Dylan MacEachern chipped in with two assists for the IceDogs.

Mike Lomas had the only goal for Peterborough (25-32-4), while Jason Missiaen made 17 saves in defeat.

Battalion 6 Wolves 0

At Brampton, Ont., Patrick Killeen stopped 38 shots to become the Battalion's all-time shutout leader with seven and Scott Tanski earned his first hat-trick in a rout of Sudbury.

Stephon Thorne, Matt Clark and Ian Watters also scored for Brampton (22-25-13).

Andrew Loverock allowed four goals on 22 shots for Sudbury (23-31-5). Alain Valiquette stopped five of seven shots in relief.

Spitfires 6 Whalers 3

At Windsor, Ont., Justin Shugg scored his 34th and 35th goals of the season and Troy Passingham made 24 saves as the Spitfires defeated Plymouth.

Adam Henrique, Taylor Hall, Justin Shugg and Greg Nemisz also scored for the Spitfires (46-10-5).

Garrett Meurs, Tyler Seguin and Ryan Hayes replied for the Whalers (36-22-2).

Rangers 7 Sting 3

At Sarnia, Ont., Kitchener scored three times in the third to pull away from the Sting.

Mike Mascioli, with two, Chris MacKinnon, Jeff Skinner, Michael Catenacci, Ben Thomson and Gabriel Landeskog scored for the Rangers (38-17-5).

Brett Ritchie and Kale Kerbashian replied for the Sting (16-41-4), with Kerbashian scoring twice in the second period.
