Canadian women win group with 13-1 rout of Sweden
VANCOUVER -- Canada's women's hockey team capped a devastating performance in group play at the Winter Olympics with a 13-1 rout of Sweden on Wednesday.

Canada won Group A with a 3-0 record. The Canadians will play the loser of Thursday's preliminary-round game between the U.S. and Finland in one of Monday's semifinals. The winner meets Sweden (2-1) in the other semifinal.

Meghan Agosta led Canada with a hat trick to take over the tournament scoring lead with eight goals.

Cherie Piper and Gillian Apps each scored twice, and Hayley Wickenheiser was among six players who added single goals.

Katarina Timglas had the lone goal for Sweden, which beat Switzerland and Slovakia in its first two games but was outshot 52-13. Canada led 5-0 after one period and 12-0 after two.

Canada outscored its three preliminary-round opponents 43-2, beating Slovakia 18-0 and Switzerland 12-1.

In the second game of the evening, Switzerland rallied with four third-period goals to beat Slovakia 5-2 and claim third place in Group A. Stefanie Marty scored three goals in the final period for the Swiss (1-2-0). The Slovaks finished group play with an 0-3-0 record.
