11 games highlight last pre-Olympic Saturday

The Winter Olympics are already under way, but the NHL regular-season schedule still has two more days of action before the League breaks to fill the ranks of the 12 teams taking part in the hockey competition. The final Saturday before the break includes 11 games, ranging from coast to coast to coast.

The day starts at 2 p.m. ET in the East, where the New York Islanders will try to break out of a slump that has seen them lose eight of nine games when they host Tampa Bay. The Lightning is coming off a 5-4 home loss to Boston on Thursday, one night after the Isles lost 3-1 at Pittsburgh.

The action heats up in the evening, with five games scheduled to face off at 7 p.m. ET.

The Montreal Canadiens and Philadelphia Flyers play the back end of a home-and-home series when they meet at the Bell Centre. The Flyers built a 3-0 lead on Friday and held off the Habs for a 3-2 win in Philadelphia on Friday. The game can be seen on CBC in Canada and the NHL Network in the United States.

Buffalo will have a tough time trying to break a six-game losing streak -- the Sabres host the Western Conference-leading San Jose Sharks. Buffalo lost 4-3 in overtime at Carolina on Thursday, the same night the Sharks won 3-2 in a shootout at Detroit. The Wings will try to bounce back when they host the NHL's hottest team, the Ottawa Senators, who beat Washington 6-5 on Thursday to improve to 13-1-0 in their last 14 games.

The improving Hurricanes will finish their pre-Olympic schedule by hosting New Jersey, a 5-2 winner over Nashville on Friday. In the other 7 p.m. start, Boston goes for a Sunshine State sweep when it visits the struggling Florida Panthers, who come off a 3-0 home loss to Vancouver on Thursday.

Two more games start at 8 p.m. ET. The Capitals will try to rebound from losses at Montreal and Ottawa when they visit St. Louis. The Blues beat Toronto 4-0 on Friday. Also, the Dallas Stars host the Phoenix Coyotes, 2-1 losers at Colorado on Friday. Dallas won 3-1 at Calgary on Thursday.

At 8:30 p.m., the Atlanta Thrashers try for two wins in as many nights when they visit Chicago. Atlanta won 3-2 at Minnesota on Friday. Chicago has been off since a 4-3 shootout win over Dallas on Tuesday.

At 10 p.m., Anaheim starts a weekend swing through Alberta with a visit to Calgary. The Ducks have been off since a 3-2 home win over Edmonton on Wednesday. That game can also be seen on CBC in Canada.

A half-hour later, the Los Angeles Kings try to bounce back from a 10-round 3-2 shootout loss to Edmonton on Thursday when they host Colorado.
