Kings go after 10th straight win on Monday
The Los Angeles Kings shoot for their 10th straight victory on a Monday night that features five games on the NHL schedule
The Los Angeles Kings shoot for their 10th straight victory on a Monday night that features five games on the NHL schedule.

The Kings, who have already set the franchise record with nine consecutive wins, travel to face the Pacific Division rival Anaheim Ducks at 10 p.m. ET. Los Angeles has won five straight games between the teams dating back to last season, including a 6-4 decision last Thursday. That was the most recent game for the Ducks, who are five points out of a Western Conference playoff berth, while the Kings extended their winning streak Saturday by rallying from a three-goal deficit for a 4-3 win over the Red Wings.

Monday’s action gets started with a pair of 7 p.m. games. The New Jersey Devils and their new superstar Ilya Kovalchuk visit the Atlantic Division rival Philadelphia Flyers for a game that will be televised nationally by Versus in the U.S. and TSN in Canada. Also, the West-leading San Jose Sharks invade the Air Canada Centre for a cross-conference matchup with the Toronto Maple Leafs, who ended Ottawa’s 11-game win streak Saturday with a 5-0 victory. Jean-Sebastien Giguere has shutouts in his first two starts since being acquired from Anaheim.

Two other games will face off at 9:30 p.m. The Colorado Avalanche look to build off a shutout of Edmonton on Saturday when they welcome in the St. Louis Blues. Meanwhile, the Phoenix Coyotes, who had a six-game winning streak ended Saturday in Dallas, look to rebound on home ice against the Oilers.
