TSN is reporting the New York Islanders have placed defenseman Brendan Witt on waivers.
The 34-year-old blueliner was activated off injured reserve this week due to a knee injury that has sidelined him since Jan. 8. He has 2 goals and 5 points in 42 games.
If Witt clears waivers in 24 hours, the team likely will send him to its American Hockey League affiliate, the Bridgeport Sound Tigers.
