Leafs-Devils highlights nine-game Tuesday
The Toronto Maple Leafs shook up their roster, and their first test as a new-look team will be the New Jersey Devils.
The Toronto Maple Leafs spent Sunday shaking up their roster -- now they get set to take the ice for the first time since acquiring defenseman Dion Phaneuf and goaltender Jean-Sebastien Giguere, with their matchup against the New Jersey Devils one of nine games on the NHL schedule for Tuesday night.

The Leafs will field a much different roster from the one that suffered a 5-4 overtime loss to the Devils at the Prudential Center last Friday. They sent Niklas Hagman, Matt Stajan, Jamal Mayers and Ian White to Calgary in the deal for Phaneuf, Fredrik Sjostrom and Keith Aulie, as well as dealing Vesa Toskala and Jason Blake to Anaheim for Giguere, a former Conn Smythe Trophy and Stanley Cup winner.

Faceoff at the Air Canada Centre is scheduled for shortly after 7 p.m. ET.

Two other games get under way at the same time: The Washington Capitals look to extend their winning streak to 11 straight as they pay a visit to the slumping Boston Bruins, while the Atlanta Thrashers host the Tampa Bay Lightning in a battle of Southeast Division teams that hang right on the periphery of the Eastern Conference playoff picture.

The Vancouver Canucks make the second stop on their marathon, 14-game road trip as they take on the Montreal Canadiens at 7:30 p.m. The Canucks lead the Northwest Division while the Canadiens will begin life without leading goal-scorer Mike Cammalleri, out 6-8 weeks with a knee injury.

At 8 p.m., the Nashville Predators welcome in the Phoenix Coyotes, while the Dallas Stars are home to the Minnesota Wild.

The Colorado Avalanche look to snap a three-game losing streak with the Columbus Blue Jackets coming to town for a 9 p.m. start.

Staying up late is worth a hockey fan’s while, as a pair of intriguing matchups face off at 10:30 p.m. The New York Rangers, fresh off acquiring Olli Jokinen and Brandon Prust from Calgary for Ales Kotalik and Christopher Higgins, shoot for a second straight win as they face the Los Angeles Kings, who return home after sweeping a five-game road trip. Also, the Detroit Red Wings visit the League-leading San Jose Sharks, looking to take over sole possession of the eighth and final playoff spot in the West.
