Having ended their four-game slide with a 4-0 home victory over the Philadelphia Flyers on Thursday, the Toronto Maple Leafs are hitting the road in hopes of building a winning streak.
The Leafs start a five-game trip on Friday night when they visit the Verizon Center for a meeting with the Washington Capitals at 7 p.m. ET (TSN).
Toronto was nearly flawless against the Flyers, but the Leafs will have to be even better to slow down the high-scoring Capitals, who are coming off a 5-4 shootout win at Florida on Wednesday -- a game in which they trailed 4-1.
The Leafs-Caps contest is one of only two on Friday's schedule. In the other game, the Nashville Predators go for a sweep of Western Canada when they visit the Calgary Flames at 9 p.m. ET. The Predators already own wins at Vancouver (3-2) and Edmonton (5-3) on their road trip. The Flames, who have struggled at the Pengrowth Saddledome, are coming off a 3-1 home loss to Pittsburgh on Wednesday.
