Associated Press

BOSTON (AP) -Bruins center Marc Savard is expected to miss three to four weeks because of a partial ligament tear in his right knee.

The team also said before Saturday's game against the New York Rangers that Savard will not need surgery. The injury is to his medial collateral ligament.

Savard is the team's fourth-leading scorer. He is one of their better playmakers and the center of their top line. He plays regularly on the power play.

Savard was injured along the boards in Thursday's 5-2 loss at home against Chicago.
