The battle for first place in the Atlantic Division and the Eastern Conference is on the line during an exciting, eight-game NHL schedule on Wednesday night.

The Pittsburgh Penguins, who blew a 3-0 lead en route to a 4-3 loss at Buffalo on Tuesday, have another chance to pull even with the New Jersey Devils as they meet the current division/conference leaders at the Prudential Center at 7 p.m. ET. The Devils have won eight of their past 10 games, while the Pens have won only once in their last four.

Four other games are also slated to begin at 7 p.m. -- the New York Rangers host the Philadelphia Flyers, the Tampa Bay Lightning aim to continue their winning ways on home ice against Montreal (RDS in Canada), the Boston Bruins host Atlanta and the Colorado Avalanche visit the Ottawa Senators (TSN in Canada).

The Calgary Flames return to the ice on Wednesday in big conference showdown against the Los Angeles Kings at the Pengrowth Saddledome at 9:30 p.m. ET. Calgary has just three wins in its last 10 games and is three points behind Colorado in the Northwest Division. Meanwhile, the Edmonton Oilers look to stop a seven-game losing streak as they host the Toronto Maple Leafs at Rexall Place.

The final game of the night is also must-see TV, as the San Jose Sharks battle the Washington Capitals at HP Pavilion at 10 p.m. ET. Jason Chimera, who was acquired from Columbus on Monday, is expected to make his debut with the Caps. San Jose (24-8-7) has won five straight and is tied for first place in the Western Conference with the Chicago Blackhawks.
