Vancouver hires ex-Canucks Dave Babych and Glen Hanlon to staff

VANCOUVER, B.C. - The Vancouver Canucks added a pair of old hands to their staff.

Dave Babych and Glen Hanlon were hired by the team Sunday. Babych will serve as player-development consultant, while Hanlon will work as a goaltender scout.

In 19 seasons, Babych, a defenceman, scored 142 goals and added 581 assists in 1,195 games with Winnipeg, Hartford, Vancouver, Philadelphia and Los Angeles.

Hanlon was drafted by the Canucks 40th overall in the 1977 entry draft. Over 15 seasons he was 167-202-61 with 13 shutouts in 477 games with Vancouver, St. Louis, New York and Detroit.

He also spent four years as Washington's coach and served as assistant coach with the Canucks.
