Peter Laviolette in Philadelphia, as the former Stanley Cup winning coach has dropped his first two games behind the Flyers' bench. On Tuesday, though, he'll have another crack at win No. 1 as part of the NHL's four-game schedule.
The Flyers, who dropped a 3-1 decision at Montreal on Monday, return home to host the New York Islanders at the Wachovia Center at 7 p.m. ET. Laviolette coached the Islanders from 2002-04 and guided the club to back-to-back playoff appearances. The Flyers (13-13-1) are currently out of playoff position and have been outscored 11-3 in the two games since Laviolette replaced John Stevens. Tuesday's match can be seen in the U.S. on Versus and on TSN2 in Canada.
A bitter Northeast Division rivalry resumes at 7:30 p.m. ET, when the Montreal Canadiens visit the Ottawa Senators at Scotiabank Place. The Habs' 3-1 win against the Flyers on Monday night pulled them within two points of Ottawa, which currently sits in third place in the division. French-Canadian viewers can watch this one on RDS.
The Nashville Predators return to the ice at 8 p.m. ET when they'll host the Vancouver Canucks at the Sommet Center. Vancouver began its four-game road trip in tremendous fashion with wins at New Jersey and Philadelphia but followed that up with a 5-3 loss at Carolina on Saturday. Nashville also dropped a 5-3 decision on home ice against Minnesota.
In the final game of the night, the Anaheim Ducks (10-13-6) will take on the Dallas Stars at the Honda Center. Dallas (13-8-8) sits in fourth place in the Pacific Division but is very much in the mix with points in seven of its last 10 games. The game can be seen on the NHL Network in Canada.
