The Carolina Hurricanes have placed defenseman Joe Corvo on the injured reserve list with a leg injury suffered Monday night against the Washington Capitals.

Corvo suffered a laceration of his lower right leg from the skate of Capitals defenseman Karl Alzner during a collision in the first period of the game, and was transported to Rex Hospital. There, Dr. Marty Isbell of Raleigh Orthopaedic Clinic performed surgery to repair the injuries suffered. Corvo is expected to miss 8-12 weeks of action.
Quote of the Day

Hopefully [Jonathan] has a year that pushes us, that is the organization, to speak to him next summer and looking for [a long-term contract]. Because the thought process is trying to get a goaltender, and hopefully it's Jonathan, to be the stabilizer for this franchise.
