Crosby ends scoring drought

Sidney Crosby ended the longest scoring drought of his career with a first-period assist in the Pittsburgh Penguins' game against the New Jersey Devils on Wednesday night.

Crosby received the first assist on Ruslan Fedotenko's goal 11:32 into the game, giving the Pittsburgh captain his first point in 318 minutes, 49 seconds. He hadn't produced a point since setting up Alex Goligoski's game-tying goal at 17:43 of the third period in the Penguins' 4-3 shootout win at Columbus on Oct. 30.

The goal gave Pittsburgh a 1-0 lead, but turned out to be Pittsburgh's lone goal in a 4-1 loss.

It was the Penguins' first goal after being shut out by San Jose on Saturday and Boston on Tuesday. Pittsburgh hadn't scored since taking a 2-1 lead at Los Angeles on Nov. 5 on a goal by Chris Kunitz at 10:51 of the second period. They went 160:41 between goals.
