Forward Brendan Shinnimin of the Tri-City Americans was named the WHL player of the week on Monday.

Shinnimin collected six points, scoring three goals and three assists to go with a +3 rating, in two games over the past week, helping the Americans post a 2-0 record in that span.

Shinnimin's six points over the last two games has him sitting 2nd among all WHL scorers with 34 points (15 goals, nine assists) in 18 games played.

Shinnimin, an 18-year-old from Winnipeg, is in his second full season with the Tri-City Americans.

The WHL has also nominated James Reid of the Spokane Chiefs for the CHL goaltender of the week award. Reid posted a 3-0-0-0 record this past week, stopping 76 of 79 shots faced for a 1.000 goals-against average and a 0.962 save percentage.

Also on Monday, Binghamton Senators goaltender Mike Brodeur was named the AHL player of the week.

Brodeur stopped 94 of 96 shots in three appearances last week, good for a 0.67 goals-against average and a .979 save percentage.

Brodeur is now 4-3-0 in 11 appearances for Binghamton this season, with a 2.56 goals-against average and a .914 save percentage along with one shutout.

The 26-year-old native of Calgary is in his sixth professional season, and signed as a free agent with Ottawa on July 1, 2009.
