Andy Bathgate scored a clutch hat trick as the Belleville Bulls rallied to beat the Brampton Battalion 3-2 in Ontario Hockey League action Saturday.

After both teams went scoreless through two periods, Battalion (7-12-2) defenceman Ken Peroff scored five minutes into the third. Brampton made it 2-0 when Sam Carrick scored at 8:59. That set the stage for Bathgate's late-game heroics. The Bulls (7-12-2) centre scored his first at 16:16, made it 2-2 at 17:52 and put the game away 47 seconds later.

It was Bathgate's first OHL hat-trick. Last season he scored a total of four goals in 44 games. Saturday evening's feat matches that output just 21 games into the season.

Elsewhere in the OHL, London 5 Ottawa 3; Erie 6 Niagara 2; Plymouth 3 Sault Ste. Marie 2 (OT); Sudbury 2 Peterborough 0; and Owen Sound 4 Guelph 3.

At Belleville, Ont., Philipp Grubauer made 20 saves for the Bulls, while at the other end Patrick Killeen stopped 15 shots.

Knights 5 67's 3

At London, Ont., Daniel Erlich had a goal and two assists for the Knights as they topped Ottawa.

Philip McRae had a goal and an assist for London (13-4-1), while Colin Martin, Michael D'Orazio, and Steven Tarasuk also scored.

Thomas Nesbitt and Anthony Nigro gave Ottawa (5-10-4) a 2-0 lead in the first, but the 67's could not hold on. Julien Demers also had a marker in the third.

Otters 6 IceDogs 2

At St. Catharines, Ont., Mike Cazzola scored twice as Erie beat the IceDogs.

Greg McKegg had three points including a power-play goal to lead the Otters (7-9-3), Anthony Luciani, Zack Torquato, and Matthew Paton also scored.

Johnson Andrews and Chris DeSousa had markers for Niagara (6-11-3).

Whalers 3 Greyhounds 2

At Plymouth, Mich., Tyler G. Brown scored the overtime winner as the Whalers edged Sault Ste. Marie.

Leo Jenner and Michal Jordan also scored for Plymouth (12-7-0), while Matt Hackett made 47 saves in the win.

Michael Quesnele and Jordan Nolan had goals for Sault Ste. Marie (10-8-2), and Bryce O'Hagan stopped 21 shots.

Wolves 2 Petes 0

At Sudbury, Ont., Andrew Loverock made 30 saves for the Wolves as they blanked Peterborough.

Eddy Leitans-Rinke and John Kurtz both scored in the second period for Sudbury (8-11-1).

Goaltender Jason Missiaen stopped 27 shots for the Petes (10-11-0), their second straight loss.

Attack 4 Storm 3

At Owen Sound, Ont., Grant McGee and Garrett Wilson scored 19 seconds apart midway through the third period to lead Owen Sound past Guelph.

McGee finished with a pair of goals in the win, while Bobby Mignardi added a single for the Attack (8-12-3).

Matt Kennedy, Cody McNaughton and Carter Sandlak replied for the Storm (9-8-1).
