RALEIGH, NC -- Jim Rutherford, President and General Manager of the National Hockey League’s Carolina Hurricanes, said tonight that Hurricanes goaltender Cam Ward will spend Saturday night at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus, OH, to receive further treatment for an injury suffered during tonight’s game against the Blue Jackets.

Ward suffered a laceration on his leg from the skate of Columbus forward Rick Nash, as Nash passed through the crease during the first period of Carolina’s 3-2 loss to the Blue Jackets. He received stitches for the injury, but is stable and is expected to be released Sunday so that he may return to Raleigh.

The Hurricanes next play on Wednesday night, when they host the Los Angeles Kings at the RBC Center.
