The Pittsburgh Penguins don't come to San Jose very often, so Saturday night's visit to HP Pavilion is something of a novelty. Not that the Penguins would mind skipping trips to the Shark Tank altogether.

The defending Stanley Cup champions went 6-0-1 in their first seven trips to San Jose. But they're 0-6-1 since winning on Oct. 22, 1997 -- including a 2-1 loss last Oct. 28. The Penguins are 1-1 on their trip through California, winning 4-3 at Anaheim and losing 5-2 at Los Angeles. San Jose comes home after a 2-0-1 trip and is 4-0-1 at the Tank this season.

The Pens-Sharks game (10:30 p.m. ET) is one of 13 on a hectic Saturday schedule.

The day's action starts about 400 miles down the California coast, where the Los Angeles Kings will try to build off a 5-2 win over the Penguins on Thursday when they host the Nashville Predators (4 p.m. ET). Nashville got 40 shots at Anaheim on Thursday -- but couldn't beat Ducks' goaltender Jonas Hiller, who stopped them all in a 4-0 win.

The action really heats up at 7 p.m. ET, when no less than eight games will face off.

It's Hall of Fame weekend in Toronto, and the Maple Leafs and Detroit Red Wings will be a part of the festivities when they meet at the Air Canada Centre. The two old rivals haven't seen each other since the Leafs' 3-2 win at Detroit on opening night of the 2008-09 season, and Detroit hasn't won in Toronto since Nov. 16, 2002.

The Leafs are just 2-7-5, but they're coming off a 3-2 win at Carolina on Friday. Detroit has won three in a row while allowing just two goals.

New Jersey puts its perfect road record on the line at Ottawa. The Devils have won their first seven games away from The Rock, putting them three short of the record for most road wins from the start of a season. They're coming off a 2-1 home win over the Islanders on Friday. Ottawa beat Tampa Bay 3-2 in OT on Thursday night.

Northeast Division rivals Buffalo and Boston, both coming off losses, meet for the first time this season when the Sabres visit TD Garden. Buffalo was whipped 5-2 by the Flyers at home on Friday night, while the Bruins lost 2-1 in a shootout to Montreal at home Thursday night.

Tampa Bay finishes its swing through Eastern Canada with a visit to Montreal. The Lightning won at Toronto and lost in overtime at Ottawa. The Canadiens survived a late goal by Boston on Thursday to win 2-1 in a shootout and get back to the .500 mark at 8-8-0.

Florida and Washington meet for the second time in two nights, this time at the Verizon Center in the nation's capital. The Caps are already without star forward Alex Ovechkin and lost defensemen Mike Green and Jeff Schultz in the first period on Friday night -- but still left the BankAtlantic Center with a 4-1 victory to end a three-game losing streak. The loss ended the Panthers' three-game winning streak.

Philadelphia takes a three-game winning streak -- including its win Friday night at Buffalo -- into a home game against St. Louis on Saturday. The Flyers have outscored their opponents 17-5 in the three wins; the Blues have scored just one goal while going 0-2-1 in their last three.

Road games have suited the Thrashers much better than playing at home, so visiting the New York Islanders could be a good way for Atlanta to get over a 4-3 home loss to Columbus on Thursday. The Islanders had won four in a row before losing their last two, including a 2-1 loss at New Jersey on Friday night.

Columbus returns home and hopes to build on the victory at Atlanta when the Carolina Hurricanes come to town. Carolina has dropped 11 in a row, including a 3-2 home loss to Toronto on Friday night.

In the lone game at 8 p.m. ET, the Dallas Stars take on the struggling Wild in Minnesota. Both teams are coming off home games against Vancouver -- the Wild lost 5-2 on Thursday, while the Stars beat the Canucks 2-1 at the American Airlines Center on Friday.

At 10 p.m. ET, the New York Rangers conclude their swing through Western Canada with a visit to Calgary. The Rangers started their trip with a 4-1 loss at Vancouver, but rebounded with a 4-2 win at Edmonton on Thursday. That victory came a few hours after the Flames won 2-1 in overtime at St. Louis.

Also at 10, the Phoenix Coyotes return last Saturday's visit by the Ducks when they visit the Honda Center in Anaheim. Phoenix won last week's game 3-2 in a shootout. Both teams are coming off home victories on Thursday: The Coyotes beat Chicago 3-1 while Anaheim blanked Nashville 4-0.
