TORONTO - Forward Tomas Kubalik of the Victoriaville Tigres was named Canadian Hockey League player of the week Tuesday.
Kubalik had a whopping eight points last Friday in an 11-2 rout of the Rouyn-Noranda Huskies. He finished the week with 11 points (four goals, seven assists) and a plus-7 rating in four games.
The 19-year-old from Plzen, Czech Republic, was selected in the fifth round of the 2008 NHL entry draft by the Columbus Blue Jackets.
Forward Marcus Carroll of the Owen Sound Attack and Saskatoon Blades defenceman Stefan Elliott were also considered.
Garrett Zemlak of the Prince Albert Raiders was named CHL goaltender of the week.
He posted two victories, one shutout and a .988 save percentage last week.
Mavric Parks of the Kitchener Rangers and Peter Delmas of the Quebec Remparts were also considered.
