Only six NHL teams take to the ice Monday, but there are some intriguing matchups to keep fans entertained throughout the evening.

The opening faceoff in Philadelphia drops shortly after 5 p.m. ET, where the Flyers play host to the Tampa Bay Lightning in a game whose start time was moved up a couple hours because the Phillies will be playing the New York Yankees in Game 5 of the World Series across the sports complex at Citizens Bank Park shortly before 8 p.m.

The Flyers (6-4-1) haven't played since routing the Hurricanes 6-1 in a Saturday matinee at the Wachovia Center, where they are 4-2-1 this season. The Lightning (4-3-4), by contrast, haven't won on the road this season, with an 0-3-1 mark. They'll be looking to rebound from Saturday's 2-1 shootout loss to the Devils at the St. Pete Times Forum.

There was an 11-season stretch between 1980 and 1990 when the New York Islanders and Edmonton Oilers combined to win the Stanley Cup nine times -- the Isles won four straight from 1980-83 before the Oilers reeled off a stretch of five championships in seven seasons.

Those clubs would be happy to get back to the postseason in 2009-10, and they're currently on the right track. The Oilers (7-6-1) pay a rare visit to the Nassau Coliseum at 7 p.m. to visit the Islanders (4-4-5), who have won a season-high three straight. Martin Biron shut out his former team Saturday and Jeff Tambellini recorded a hat trick in a 5-0 win over Buffalo. Edmonton is coming off a 2-0 loss in Boston on Saturday afternoon.

Closing out the night, Los Angeles travels to Phoenix for a 9 p.m. game -- it's the third meeting already this season for these Pacific Division rivals who are currently tied for second. The Kings (8-4-2) had won four in a row before suffering consecutive shootout losses to San Jose and Vancouver, while the Coyotes (9-4-0) come off a shutout over Anaheim that tied their franchise record for victories in the month of October.
