From coast to coast and early afternoon until late evening, Sunday is as full as a hockey day can be with only four games on tap.

The action begins at 1 p.m. ET when the Boston Bruins visit Madison Square Garden for an Original Six showdown against the New York Rangers. Boston (6-5-1) continued its lose-one, win-one pattern on Saturday afternoon by beating Edmonton 2-0 at the TD Garden behind 19 saves by Tuukka Rask and third-period goals from Blake Wheeler and Vladimir Sobotka. The Rangers are 8-5-1 -- but just 1-4-1 in their last six games. They're coming off road losses to the Islanders and Wild, but may have their top scorer, Marian Gaborik, back in the lineup. He missed the last two games with a lower-body injury.

At 1:30, the red-hot San Jose Sharks begin a road trip by visiting the Carolina Hurricanes. San Jose is 9-4-1 and atop the Pacific Division after winning its fourth in a row, 3-1 over Colorado at home on Friday. The struggling 'Canes have dropped eight in a row after being flattened 6-1 in Philadelphia on Saturday afternoon.

The Columbus Blue Jackets come to Washington for only the fifth time in their history when they visit the Verizon Center for a meeting with the Capitals (5 p.m. ET). Both teams are coming off tough 4-3 losses at home on Friday night -- Columbus blew a two-goal lead late in regulation and lost to Pittsburgh in a shootout, while the Capitals fell to the Islanders in overtime. Washington is 2-1 with a tie in the Jackets' first four visits.

There's a break in the action until 10 p.m. ET, when the Colorado Avalanche conclude a tough four-game trip with a visit to Vancouver. The Avs are 10-2-2 despite Friday's 3-1 loss at San Jose -- and despite playing 10 of their first 14 on the road. Vancouver comes home after splitting two games in Southern California without injured goaltender Roberto Luongo, who's out with a broken rib. The Canucks won 2-1 at Los Angeles in a shootout on Wednesday, then lost 7-2 at Anaheim the next night.
