The New York Rangers will be without their top gun, Marian Gaborik, for Wednesday's game against the New York Islanders at the Nassau Coliseum.

Gaborik left Monday's 5-2 win over Phoenix after a collision with Coyotes forward Petr Prucha and did not return. Earlier in the game, he scored his team-high 10th goal. He also leads the Rangers with 18 points in 12 games.

"He won't be playing tonight," Rangers coach John Tortorella told the media after Wednesday's morning skate at the Coliseum. "I'm not going to get into what he has."

P.A. Parenteau, a 26-year-old right wing who was leading the AHL with 8 goals, was recalled Tuesday from Hartford and will play against the Isles.

Tortorella said Gaborik's injury is not related to the hip, groin and back ailments that forced the All-Star to miss 65 games in 2008-09, his last season with the Minnesota Wild.

"I have no idea" Tortorella replied when asked when Gaborik will be able to return to the lineup. The Rangers' next game after facing the Islanders is on Friday in Minnesota -- where Gaborik spent his first eight NHL seasons before signing with the Rangers this summer.
