Carolina Hurricanes forward
Tuomo Ruutu has been suspended for three games, without pay, for a boarding infraction Friday night in NHL Game #129 against the
Colorado Avalanche.
Under the terms of the Collective Bargaining Agreement and based on the annual average value of his contract, Ruutu will forfeit $59,067.36 in salary. The money goes to the Players’ Emergency Assistance Fund.
Ruutu was assessed a major penalty and a game misconduct for boarding Colorado’s
Darcy Tucker at 5:26 of the second period. Tucker was injured on the play.
Ruutu will miss games tonight at Minnesota, Wednesday against St. Louis and next Saturday at Philadelphia. He will be eligible to return Sunday, Nov. 1, against San Jose.
