The
Vancouver Canucks don't have happy memories of their last visit to the United Center. They're hoping for better things on Wednesday, when they visit the
Chicago Blackhawks (8:30 p.m. ET, TSN, NHL Network-U.S.) in one of six games on the NHL schedule.
The teams haven't met since May, when the Blackhawks eliminated Vancouver in six games in their Western Conference Semifinal series. Game 6 was a nightmare for the Canucks, who were torched for seven goals -- three by
Patrick Kane -- in Chicago's 7-5 series-clinching victory.
The Canucks have struggled so far this season, and their 3-5-0 record includes four losses in as many road games, including a 2-1 loss at Edmonton on Monday. The Hawks are 3-1-1 at home, though they've coming off a 4-3 loss to Dallas on Saturday.
Wednesday's action gets under way at 7 p.m. ET, as the
New York Islanders continue the search for their first win of the season as they host the
Carolina Hurricanes at Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum. The Isles have gone three games without collecting a point in the standings. Carolina (2-4-1) is experiencing difficulty scoring and is coming off a 2-0 loss at New Jersey on Saturday.
Also at 7 p.m., the
Boston Bruins will host the
Nashville Predators at TD Garden. Boston has won only three of its first seven games after finishing with the best record in the Eastern Conference last season, while the Preds (2-4-1) have been outscored 23-10 in their seven games.
The
Florida Panthers return to the ice at 7:30 p.m. ET, when they'll host the
Buffalo Sabres at the BankAtlantic Center. Buffalo (4-1-1) is off to a tremendous start and earned a 6-3 win against the Isles on Friday night at HSBC Arena. Florida (2-4-0) currently resides in last place in the Southeast Division, though the Panthers come off a 4-2 win over Philadelphia on Friday.
The
Minnesota Wild will search for their second win of the season at 8 p.m. ET, when they take on the surprising
Colorado Avalanche at the Xcel Energy Center. The Wild (1-6-0) named
Mikko Koivu their captain this week after coming home 0-5 on a road trip. Colorado finishes a seven-game trip in which it last won four in a row, all against Original Six teams.
The final game of the night has a 10 p.m. ET start time, as the
Anaheim Ducks host the
Dallas Stars at the Honda Center. The Ducks are off to a .500 start (3-3-1) but are at the bottom of the pack in the Pacific Division. Dallas (3-2-3) dropped a 4-1 decision at home to the
Los Angeles Kings on Monday night.
