Brother takes on brother in NHL Wednesday night

A rematch of the Eastern Conference Finals, as well as some tasty family reunions, highlight the NHL's five-game schedule Wednesday night.

Meeting for the first time since May, the Carolina Hurricanes will host the Pittsburgh Penguins at the RBC Center at 7 p.m. ET. Pittsburgh ended Carolina's magical run to the semifinals in a four-game sweep before going on to win its first Stanley Cup since 1992. It also means Carolina's Eric Staal will face off against his brother, Pittsburgh's Jordan Staal in quite the family reunion.

The Koivu brothers also will be facing one another as Mikko Koivu's Minnesota Wild meet Saku Koivu's Anaheim Ducks at 10 p.m. ET from the Honda Center. It's the first of a six-game homestand for the Ducks, who are back on the West Coast following Sunday's 3-0 loss to the Rangers at MSG. Minnesota has been outscored 10-5 in its last two games, dropping decisions at Los Angeles and San Jose -- and the Wild has two more road games after this one before going home.

At 7 p.m., the scorching-hot New York Rangers battle the sizzling Los Angeles Kings at Madison Square Garden. Both teams played Monday -- the Blueshirts pummeled the Toronto Maple Leafs 7-2 for their fifth consecutive win, while the Kings eked out a 2-1 win against the New York Islanders on Long Island to make it four in a row -- the last two on the road.

At 8:30 p.m. ET, the Dallas Stars host the Nashville Predators at American Airlines Center. Both teams are coming off losses, as Nashville dropped a 6-1 decision to Edmonton on Monday, while Dallas came up short in a 4-3 shootout defeat in Vancouver on Sunday night. The Predators are already making their second trip to Dallas -- they won 3-2 in a shootout on Oct. 3.

Also, the Chicago Blackhawks will try to feed off the momentum created by their historic comeback against the Calgary Flames on Monday as they host the Edmonton Oilers at the United Center. Chicago gave up five goals in the first period before storming back to win 6-5 in overtime. Wednesday's game can be seen in Canada on TSN. This game marks the return of goalie Nikolai Khabibulin to Chicago after he signed with the Oilers this summer.
