TORONTO - The NHL has handed out a one-game suspension to San Jose Sharks forward Brad Staubitz.

During a game on Tuesday, Staubitz hit Davis Drewiske of the Los Angeles Kings after the defenceman had touched the puck for an icing.

Staubitz was assessed a minor penalty for charging on the play.

He'll forfeit US$2,590.67 in salary for the suspension and will be eligible to return Oct. 10 against Minnesota.

Quote of the Day

He's, believe it or not, actually one of my favorite guys, and I've ended up trading him twice. I appreciate what he's done. He was one year away from being an unrestricted free agent, and I felt with this opportunity, that it was a chance that we were able to get somebody for him in Nick Bonino and Adam Clendening.
