Nicholas Pard helped the Saint John Sea Dogs earn a win over a provincial rival.

Pard's goal in the sixth round of the shootout lifted the Sea Dogs to a 3-2 victory over the Moncton Wildcats on Sunday in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League.

Saint John (5-2-0) took a brief lead in the sudden-death format on a goal by Jonathan Huberdeau in the second round. Moncton (4-1-1) stayed alive when Scott Brannan scored in the third round.

Moncton shooters Randy Cameron and Marek Hrivik followed with misses, as did Saint John skaters Steven Anthony and Olivier Ouellet. Wildcats forward Matthew Bissonnette was stopped on Moncton's sixth shot, setting the stage for Pard's heroics.

In other Quebec Major Junior Hockey League action Sunday, it was: Lewiston 7 Chicoutimi 1; P.E.I. 2 Gatineau 1; Victoriaville 4 Halifax 2; and Acadie-Bathurst 3 Montreal 1.

At Saint John, N.B., Danick Gauthier and Yann Sauve had first-period goals for the Sea Dogs, while Zack Phillips forced extra time with his first goal of the season at 11:57 of the third.

Ted Stephens, Daniel Petterson and Brandon Gormley replied for the Wildcats, who went 2-for-5 on the power play while holding Saint John scoreless in six man-advantage chances.

Karel St-Laurent stopped 30 shots to earn the victory for the Sea Dogs.

Louis Domingue made 30 saves in defeat for Moncton.

Maineiacs 7 Sagueneens 1

At Lewiston, Maine, Alexis Piette scored twice as the Maineiacs routed Chicoutimi.

Alexander Beaton, Pier-Olivier Morin, Francis Beauvillier, Michael Chaput and Samuel Carrier also had goals for Lewiston (4-2-0).

Steve Lebel had the only goal for the Sagueneens (2-3-2).

At Charlottetown, Marco Cousineau's 35-save effort led the Rocket past Gatineau.

Chris Doyle scored both goals for P.E.I. (4-1-2).

Denis Kindl countered for the Olympiques (5-2-0).

At Halifax, Thomas Kubalik's game winner midway through the third period paced Victoriaville.

Travis McIsaac, Philippe Maillet and Yannick Dube also scored for the Tigres (5-2-1).

Tomas Knotek and Carl Gelinas answered for the Mooseheads (0-6-0).

Titan 3 Junior 1

At Verdun, Que., Nicholas Champion made 33 saves in Acadie-Bathurst's win over Montreal.

Eric Faille, Vincent Arseneau and Jonathan Lessard scored for the Titan (3-2-2).

Eliezer Sherbatov provided the lone offence for the Junior (3-3-0).
