The Red Wings and Blues will open their regular-season schedules Oct. 2 and 3 at Ericsson Globe Arena in Stockholm in the two-game 2009 Compuware NHL Premiere-Stockholm. The series is a homecoming for Lidstrom and Berglund, both natives of Vasteras, Sweden. Lidstrom will be starting his 18th NHL season, all with the Red Wings, and needs three points to reach 1,000 for his career. Berglund earned All-Rookie Team honors in 2008-09 after recording 47 points (21-26) and leading the Blues in plus-minus (plus-19).
It's cool when you think about how many great American players have played the game and the two players that were at that 18-game point streak and what they've done in their careers. It's pretty cool right now, but it was kind of overshadowed by the loss.
