CALGARY - Jean Labonte of Gatineau, Que., has been named the captain of Canada's sledge hockey team for the 2009-10 season.

The 40-year-old Labonte has been team captain since the 2007-08 season.

Brad Bowden of Orton, Ont., and Greg Westlake of Oakville, Ont., were named alternate captains.

The 18-man sledge hockey team is holding a training camp this week at the Pengrowth Saddledome. The team has two series against the United States scheduled for September and October as well as the world sledge hockey challenge in November.
