SAN JOSE, Calif. - The San Jose Sharks have signed a pair of goalies, agreeing to a deal with free agent Henrik Karlsson of Sweden and re-signing Thomas Greiss.

The 25-year-old Karlsson was given a one-year contract on Wednesday. He posted a 2.45 goals-against average and a .921 save percentage in 32 games for Malmo of Allsvenskan in Sweden last season. He also had a 2.49 goals-against average in seven games with Sodertalje of the Swedish Elite League.

Sharks general manager Doug Wilson also announced a two-year deal with Greiss, who was a restricted free agent.

Greiss, who played three games with the Sharks in 2007-08, spent last season with Worcester of the AHL.

Quote of the Day

You don't see many. The [Drew] Doughtys, the [P.K.] Subbans, those are guys that create offense from the back and then on top of that ability, the size that he has. In the West you play against some pretty big players, and being able to clear the crease and contain the [Ryan] Getzlafs and the [Corey] Perrys and [Anze] Kopitars and players like that, we're excited about him going back there.
