Pens sign Ben Lovejoy and Tim Wallace

The Stanley Cup Champion Pittsburgh Penguins have signed defenseman Ben Lovejoy to a one-year contract and forward Tim Wallace to a two-year deal, it was announced today by Executive Vice President and General Manager Ray Shero.

Lovejoy, 25, recorded seven goals and 24 assists for 31 points in 76 games for the Penguins' AHL affiliate in Wilkes-Barre/Scranton in 2008-09. He also made his NHL debut with the Penguins, going scoreless in two games. Lovejoy practiced with the Penguins during the Stanley Cup playoffs but did not appear in a playoff game.

The 6-foot-2, 214-pound native of Canaan, NH played college hockey at Dartmouth before turning pro.

Wallace, 24, appeared in 16 games for the Penguins in 2008-09, contributing two assists – his first career NHL points. He also played 58 games with Wilkes-Barre/Scranton, compiling 11 goals and eight assists for 19 points.

The 6-1, 180-pound native of Anchorage, AK played four seasons of college hockey at Notre Dame and played two seasons for the U.S. National Team Development Program.
