VANCOUVER, B.C. - Arniel has been rewarded for guiding the Manitoba Moose to their most successful season in franchise history.

The Vancouver Canucks, Manitoba's parent club, gave Arniel a three-year contract extension Monday.

"Scott has done an outstanding job with our top prospects that are playing in Winnipeg," Canucks GM Mike Gillis said in a release. "He and his staff prepare our young players for the challenges of the NHL and we are thrilled that he will continue to teach and develop future Canucks this upcoming season."

The Moose made it to the Calder Cup final after finishing first overall in the AHL with a record of 50-23-1-6 last season.

Arniel was subsequently named the league's coach of the year.

In 2008-09, the Moose set a number franchise records, including the most regular-season wins (50) and the most road wins (25), while tying the franchise mark for the most home wins in one season (25).

Quote of the Day

I'm just excited about the opportunity. I've been on the ice earlier than usual and in the weight room, pushing around a little more weights than usual. Every day I go into a workout with a smile on my face and ready to go. When you do have a little more responsibility, you want to take your lunch pail and get ready to work.
