March 29, 2007: Recorded an assist for his 1,580th career point to move past Ray Bourque for ninth place on the NHL's all-time scoring list during Colorado's 4-3 victory against the Phoenix Coyotes at Jobing.com Arena.

April 8, 2007: Records his sixth career 100-point season with a goal in Colorado's 6-3 win against Calgary.

October 7, 2007: Scored a goal and an assist to move past Phil Esposito into eighth place on the NHL's career points list with 1,591 during Colorado's 6-2 victory against San Jose at Pepsi Center.

October 26, 2007: Scored a goal and an assist in Colorado's 3-2 overtime victory against the Calgary Flames at Pengrowth Saddledome, becoming the eighth player in NHL history to record 1,600 career points.

March 22, 2008: Becomes the 11th player in NHL history to record 1,000 career assists during Colorado's 7-5 loss against the Edmonton Oilers at Rexall Place.

October 23, 2008: Scores the 625th and final regular season goal of his career during a 4-1 victory against the Edmonton Oilers at Pepsi Center. Sakic scored against goaltender Mathieu Garon at 3:32 of the third period with assists from Darcy Tucker and Wojtek Wolski.

November 2, 2008: Records the 1,641st and final regular season point of his career with an assist during a 5-3 loss against the San Jose Sharks at Pepsi Center.

November 28, 2008: Appears in the 1,378th and final regular season game of his career, a 2-1 loss against the Phoenix Coyotes at Jobing.com Arena.

On July 9, 2009: Announces his retirement from the NHL. In 1,378 career games, Sakic scored 625 goals and 1,016 assists for 1,641 points, finishing eighth on the NHL's all-time scoring list.
