The Anaheim Ducks re-signed center Todd Marchant to a two-year contract on Tuesday. As per club policy, no financial terms of the deal were disclosed.

"We're pleased that Todd will remain a Duck for the next two seasons," Executive Vice President and General Manager Bob Murray said in a statement. "His versatility on the ice and presence in the locker room is something this club has deeply valued over the past four seasons."

The 35-year-old checking center had 5 goals and 13 assists for 18 points in 72 games with the Ducks in 2008-09, his fourth season with Anaheim. He became the 31st U.S.-born player to appear in his 1,000th NHL game when he took the ice on Dec. 22 at Vancouver. Marchant also appeared in all 14 of Anaheim's playoff games, scoring once and adding an assist. He scored the triple overtime-winning goal in the Ducks’ 2-1 victory in Game 2 of the Western Conference Semifinals on May 3 at Detroit.

In 261 regular-season games with the Ducks, Marchant has 28 goals and 54 assists for 82 points with 172 penalty minutes. He also has 13 goals and 20 assists for 33 points with 92 PIM in 89 career playoff games, and was a member of the 2007 Anaheim team that won the only Stanley Cup in franchise history.

Marchant was selected by the New York Rangers in the seventh round (No. 164) in the 1993 NHL Entry Draft. He was traded to Edmonton by the Rangers for Craig MacTavish on March 21, 1994. Marchant signed as a free agent with Columbus on July 3, 2003, and was claimed on waivers by Anaheim on Nov. 21, 2005.

Marchant has played in 1,038 career NHL contests in 16 seasons with the Rangers, Edmonton, Columbus and Anaheim, scoring 176 goals and adding 292 assists for 468 points with 716 PIM. He set career highs in goals, assists and points during the 2002-03 season as a member of the Oilers, scoring 20 goals and adding 40 assists for 60 points with 48 PIM and a plus-13 rating.

The native of Buffalo, N.Y., was a member of Team USA at the 1994 Olympics in Lillehammer, Norway, where he had a goal and an assist in eight games.
