Wild sign Hnidy

The Minnesota Wild have signed veteran defenseman Shane Hnidy to a one-year contract.

Hnidy, 33,  tied his career-high with 12 points (3, goals, 9 assists) in 2008-09 with the Boston Bruins. He had 45 penalty minutes. Hnidy scored one goal in seven playoff games with the Bruins.

Hnidy has played 477 games over nine NHL seasons with Ottawa, Nashville, Atlanta, Anaheim and Boston, totaling 57 points (14-43--57) and 565 PIM.
