According to USA Today and TSN, the Tampa Bay Lightning have signed veteran defenseman Mattias Ohlund. TSN said the deal is for seven years.
Ohlund, 32, had 6 goals, 25 points and a plus-14 rating in 82 games with the Canucks in 2008-09. He also chipped in with 1 goal and 3 points in 10 playoff games for Vancouver.
Tampa Bay General Manager Brian Lawton had stressed the need for a veteran presence along his blue line during the 2009 NHL Entry Draft in Montreal this past weekend.
