Penguins deal goalie Chad Johnson to Rangers for fifth round pick

MONTREAL - The Pittsburgh Penguins traded goaltender Chad Johnson to the New York Rangers for a fifth round pick and used it to select Belleville Bulls centre Andy Bathgate on Saturday.

Johnson was Pittsburgh's fifth-round selection in the 2006 draft and played for the University of Alaska Fairbanks last season, going 14-16-5 with a 1.66 GAA in 35 games.

Bathgate, 18, had four goals and 12 assists in 44 games with the Bulls last season. Bathgate is the grandson of Hockey Hall of Fame forward Andy Bathgate.
